Network/Systems Administrator

The McCrone Group, a Westmont, Illinois firm that includes an innovative modern analytical and research laboratory, an instrumental sales group, and education division, seeks a highly motivated, experienced and capable network/systems administrator to join its IT Department.

Network/Systems Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Performing daily operational and maintenance activities on the corporate network infrastructure; including but not limited to switches, routers, and monitoring, alerting, and logging systems
  • Integrating, administering, and maintaining corporate servers, Active Directory, e-mail systems and virtual private networks
  • Managing and troubleshooting backup and archival systems
  • Assisting in the integration of new technology into the network and reconfiguring current systems to accommodate changing corporate requirements or projects
  • Documenting installation processes and operating environment; providing training for PC technicians, staff users and other IT personnel
  • Assisting and coordinating, as needed, with all company departments in their requests for support of the network
  • Evaluating and recommending emerging network technologies that would benefit the company and its business efforts.

A qualified candidate must be able to professionally perform the above job functions, plus meet the following minimum skill set requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained
  • 5+ years of LAN design utilizing Cisco routing and switching technologies in a corporate environment
  • Knowledgeable in security technologies including firewalls, intrusion prevention, and virtual private networks
  • 5+ years of experience designing, implementing, and administering a Microsoft Windows based network utilizing Active Directory and Windows Server Operating System
  • CCNA and/or MCSE certification, desired
  • Experience with VMware Virtualization, desired
  • Experience with IP Telephony, desired
  • Experience with Wireless technology and security, desired
  • Strong level of analytical skills and attention to detail to analyze business requirements, participate in the assessment of applications selections and participate in resolving issues
  • Documentation skills to document systems and processes
  • Communications skills (written and oral) to communicate effectively with all level of management
  • Must be a team player, quick learner, good problem solving skills, detail-oriented and well organized
