Students learn to calibrate a microscope, calculate magnification, and see how the light path affects the proper use of both the field and aperture diaphragms.

Combining theory and hands-on exercises allows students to properly set up Köehler illumination, understand how interpupillary distance and diopter settings impact images, and see how to maintain and clean an instrument.
