Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)

We are excited to announce the implementation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) at our laboratory in Westmont, Illinois! Our new LIMS is a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) system configured to streamline our project-based, investigational materials analysis services. This best practice technology will enhance our laboratory operations, resulting in improved service for you.

What is a LIMS?

A Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is software designed to digitally manage critical aspects of our laboratory workflow. This includes:

  • Improved project registration and sample management;
  • Contemporaneous electronic results entry;
  • Comprehensive data management and project tracking;
  • Inventory and resource management; and
  • Reporting.

Benefits for You:

The LIMS implementation enables us to offer you the same reliable project based analysis for your materials identification needs with several enhanced benefits, including:

  • Increased Efficiency: The LIMS will automate our data management workflow leading to reduced turnaround times for your projects.
  • Enhanced Data Integrity and security: The fully validated system will ensure accurate and consistent data management consistent with 21 CFR Part 11 and GAMP 5 requirements.
  • Improved Teamwork: Real-time internal access to project information and sample data will help us provide you with better service and improve communication between our teams.

Next Steps

After the success of our small-scale pilot in Q4 of 2025, we are going live with LIMS for all client projects beginning in early 2026. There will be no changes in the current project proposal process or project / sample submission process.  Please continue to contact us regarding your analysis requests and submit samples as outlined on our website.  Please note: Client reports will be emailed to the technical point of contact provided on the sample submission form.

We are confident the LIMS will result in an enhanced experience with our laboratory. We are here to answer any questions you may have and/or please review the FAQs below!

  • Analysis and/or project-related inquires can be directed to Craig S. Schwandt, Vice President & Director of Industrial Services.
  • Quality Assurance inquiries can be directed to Cheryl Murley, Vice President & Director of Quality Assurance.
