Laboratory equipment is continually “downsizing.” While the larger size of some instruments is sometimes necessary for certain tasks, such as testing products in bulk, compact instruments have advantages beyond their smaller footprints.
First, they’re often more economical, both in terms of price tag as well as long-term maintenance costs. Companies always look at price, but today’s tough economic conditions means they’re looking even harder. Second, newer technologies can help researchers approach their work more intelligently by removing some of the guesswork, saving time and money.
For all of these reasons, pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies are buying “small.” Here are two instruments that companies are using to make their drug development process smarter and more efficient.
