MICROSCOPES IN COURTROOM NOW PROVIDING EXPERT TESTIMONY ABOUT MICROSCOPIAL EVIDENCE
Mccrone Microscopes & Accessories Now Providing Equipment to Attorneys to More Effectively Display Evidence
WESTMONT, IL (June 6, 2007) – McCrone Microscopes & Accessories, the instrument sales division of The McCrone Group Inc., internationally recognized as a world leader in microanalysis and the nation’s Premier Microscopy Resource, announced today that it will make its microscopes available to attorneys to use in courtrooms to provide expert testimony about microscopical evidence. McCrone can provide its sophisticated equipment along with a digital camera system to dramatically project evidence on a large color plasma screen.
“We are now fully capable of providing a jury or court with access to a laboratory in the courtroom,” said Jeffrey D. McGinn, Director of Instrument Sales, McCrone Microscopes & Accessories. “In the past, indistinguishable photographs possibly taken in an offsite laboratory were used to present critical microscopical evidence. We can now present the full impact of microscopical evidence so that it can be clearly viewed and the significance understood,” he added.
McCrone recently provided its equipment in the court proceedings of a wrongful death case. Dr. Cynthia Gardner, a forensic pathologist with the Office of the North Carolina Medical Examiner, was enthusiastic about the availability of a research grade microscope to discuss and detail evidence directly in the courtroom. According to Dr. Gardner, “The microscope in the courtroom made my complex testimony much easier for the jury to understand. And, the simplicity of the system’s operation made it very easy to use in the courtroom.”
“I would welcome the opportunity to use this type of mobile laboratory in the courtroom every time I am called to testify,” said Dr. Ciril Abrams, Pathologist, University of Chicago.
