70 Years of History Selling Microscopes & Laboratory Accessories

The McCrone Group is proud to celebrate its 70th anniversary in 2026, and for 64 of those years, McCrone Microscopes & Accessories (MMA) has provided microscopes and laboratory accessories to scientists around the world.

Many years ago, Charles Zona authored an insightful article titled “McCrone Microscopes & Accessories: The Microscopist’s Partner: A Historical Perspective“, which outlined the evolution of the instrument sales division. Today, MMA continues to evolve while remaining firmly committed to its primary objective (no pun intended): microscopy. Since that article was written, MMA has expanded its offerings to include a broader range of microscopes and analytical instruments, reinforcing its role as a trusted advisor to a diverse client base. Even with our evolution, our clients continue to rely on some of our most time-tested accessories, such as the McCrone dispersion staining objective, reliably used for decades in the asbestos analysis and identification industry, and now a requirement for your microscope if performing USP 901 analysis.
