Taking Advantage of Improvements to Confocal Microscopic Raman Spectroscopy to Achieve Accurate Identification of Smaller Particles (Less Than 20µm)

Micrometer and nanometer scale plastic-particle pollution is a growing global problem. The primary focus of our services to our clients remains the characterization and identification of microscopic materials. We recently improved our analytical capability with the utilization of technological improvements to our Renishaw inVia Raman system. These improvements allow for increased spatial sensitivity and resolution of Raman spectroscopic analyses.

Raman Spectroscopy

We are re-issuing a previous article written by Dr. Koten and Dr. Shearer, which highlights the improving spatial sensitivity in terms of mapping. In our next issue of Nanographia, Dr. Shearer will highlight our latest efforts to identify organic compounds at smaller scale toward the one micrometer laser-focusing limit of our Raman system.
