Trusted Advisors to Pharmaceutical Scientists Worldwide

For more than 60 years, McCrone Microscopes & Accessories (MMA) has provided microscopy equipment and accessories to scientists around the world. As an authorized national dealer for Nikon optical microscopes and measuring systems, Linkam heating/cooling stages, the JEOL NeoScope benchtop SEM, TimeGate Raman, and a variety of laboratory supplies, our technical sales representatives are trusted advisors to scientists worldwide.

Our needs-based sales approach allows us to individually cater to a wide range of clients and their applications. Over the years, MMA has provided instrumentation and consultation to geological, forensics, and academic scientists, but it has been within the pharmaceutical industry where we have truly leveraged our knowledge and expertise.

Our technical sales representatives work closely with pharmaceutical scientists interested in size and shape analysis, solid-state form analysis, and the identification of contaminants. Each are briefly explained here, with their respective instruments of use:

  • Size and shape analysis – Microscopy can yield qualitative and quantitative estimates of particle shape. Size and shape leads to understanding of the bulk system properties and allows us to predict the response of the system in different situations. MMA offers customized microscope configurations, including the Nikon LV100 Polarized Light Microscope, JEOL NeoScope JCM7000 Benchtop SEM, and a variety of image analysis software platforms.
Glenn Miller adds client-specific objectives to a Nikon microscope.
  • Solid-state form analysis – Thermal microscopy offers direct observations of thermal events and acts as an aid in interpreting transitions detected by DSC and TGA. Of particular value to pharmaceutical laboratories are freeze-drying and polymorphic transformation studies. MMA is the official US dealer for Linkam thermal systems and can offer complete systems, IQ/OQ/PQ services and future service plans.
Ruben Nieblas adds a sample to a Linkam thermal stage.
  • Identification of contaminants – The identification of contaminants requires the proper instrumentation. MMA offers Nikon polarized light microscopes, Nikon stereo microscopes, and JEOL NeoScope JCM7000 Benchtop SEMs, all to aid the pharmaceutical microscopist in the identification of contaminants.

These are just a few of the ways that MMA advisors help their pharmaceutical clients with their analytical needs. We are dedicated to providing quick, efficient service, and to addressing any of your questions regarding microscopy applications and/or techniques.

The trusted advisors at McCrone Microscopes & Accessories are ready today to consult with you on your analytical needs.
