McCrone Associates’ ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Accreditation Renewed Through 2018

Westmont, IL (August 19, 2016) – McCrone Associates, Inc., the analytical services business unit of The McCrone Group (TMG), has again achieved third-party accreditation, demonstrating that its laboratory practices continue to meet international quality standards for contract testing laboratories. As set forth by the International Organization for Standardization, the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard details the quality, technical, and administrative requirements to competently carry out dependable and reproducible testing.

McCrone Associates achieves ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation.

Voluntary third-party accreditation allows clients to have confidence that the analytical services and data from a laboratory are of the highest quality. McCrone Associates first received ISO/IEC 17025:2005 accreditation in 2014 from the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA). The renewal of this accreditation through 2018, also performed by A2LA, confirms that McCrone Associates has maintained strict adherence to quality assurance standards.

The accreditation renewal process began in April. By providing documentation for proficiency testing, quality assurance, and administrative records, McCrone Associates demonstrated how various compliance requirements are met. The on-site assessment rated the quality management system, methods and techniques at McCrone Associates against the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard.

McCrone Associates also completed the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) checklists to include CGMP’s 21 CFR Parts 210, 211 and 820 as part of the scope of the accreditation process. Since McCrone Associates has built a robust quality program in compliance with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMPs) per the U.S. Code of Federal Regulations, the process to achieve accreditation renewal with this expanded scope was relatively smooth.

“Providing our clients with scientifically sound and trusted results has always been paramount to us,” said David Wiley, president of McCrone Associates. “The accreditation renewal shows our continued dedication to quality.”

The accreditation covers the performance of microscopy and microanalysis services performed by McCrone Associates for a wide range of industries, from pharmaceuticals and medical devices to food and beverage and personal care products. The techniques and instrumentation covered under the scope of accreditation can be viewed at www.a2la.org.
