The McCrone Group announces new Staff Additions at the College of Microscopy

THE McCRONE GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW STAFF ADDITIONS AT THE COLLEGE OF MICROSCOPY

WESTMONT, IL (January 22, 2008) – The McCrone Group Inc., internationally recognized as a world leader in microanalysis and the nation’s Premier Microscopy Resource, announced today that Kathy A. Cyr joins the College of Microscopy in Westmont, Illinois as Director of Program Development and Lois M. Gelwicks joins as Registrar.

Cyr will have responsibility for new course and program development as well as maintaining the Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) accreditation for the college. For the past seven years Cyr served as both Director and Program Director at the Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies located in Mount Carroll, Illinois where she worked with faculty to develop individual course offerings in the areas of Historic Preservation, Care of Material Culture and Conservation. Cyr earned both Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Clothing & Textiles from Michigan State University.

Gelwicks will be responsible for preserving and maintaining the academic integrity of College of Microscopy including leadership in the areas of student records, registration, computerized systems and office management. Prior to joining the College of Microscopy she served as Registrar and Assistant to the Director at the Campbell Center for Historic Preservations Studies in Mount Carroll, Illinois.

Zona, Dean of the College of Microscopy. “They will both play an important role in our long-range plans for the College of Microscopy which includes offering formalized distance learning and advanced degree programs,” Zona said.

The College of Microscopy, a highly specialized academic institution offering advanced professional training in analytical microscopy techniques, has the largest array of ‘state-of-the- art’ modern microscopy instrumentation within any one location in the United States.
