Scott F. Stoeffler

Senior Research Microscopist |McCrone Associates
Instructor |Hooke College of Applied Sciences
25+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

Scott joined the light microscopy group at McCrone Associates in 1997. He currently specializes in microanalysis of small particles and contaminants using polarized light microscopy, infrared microspectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry. Scott previously worked for 11 years as a trace evidence examiner with the Michigan State Police Forensic Science Division, where he developed expertise in the analysis of a variety of materials, including fibers, glass, paint and explosives. He is a member of the Midwestern Association of Forensic Scientists, where he has served as treasurer and president, as well as belonging to the American Society of Trace Evidence Examiners and the Scientific Working Group for Materials Analysis.
