Each set, manufactured by Cargille Laboratories, contains 25 slides in a protective plastic slide box. The minerals vary from each other optically in at least one or several ways. Collectively, they reveal practically all mineralogical characteristics. Examinations in both plane polarized light and crossed polars disclose different optical properties.
